The Fantasy Factory is not just a store, but a space that integrates various sectors such as tea, retail, IP gifts, and a bar, all centered around on-site baking. The idea behind the store's design was inspired by the concept of a factory. The acronym FTY was derived from the word factory, where F stands for Fair, T for Time, and Y for You (customers).
With a large flow of people and a rich array of product categories, the space was planned like a market, hence the term 'Fair'. The 'Time' aspect was inspired by the SKY series of photography by ERIC CAHAN. The color scheme of the store reflects the changing colors of the sky throughout the day. The 'You' in FTY emphasizes the relationship between customers and the Nayuki space, with the use of mirrors to create a multi-dimensional interactive experience.
The store's unique features and strengths lie in its multifunctionality and the integration of different sectors in a single space. The project, which spans an area of 1100m², started in May 2019 and was completed in November 2019. The design team, led by creative director Ray Lee, conducted extensive market research on similar retail stores to ensure the Fantasy Factory stood out from the crowd.
Despite challenges in the manufacture and installation of the Bar ceiling and the integration of different functional areas, the team successfully created a full-time business model that showcases all the different sectors. The result is a retail space that offers a unique customer experience, from baking and tasting to leisure and shopping.
The Fantasy Factory's innovative design and successful realization underscore SIG Design's commitment to pushing the boundaries of retail space design. As the winner of the Golden A' Design Award, the Fantasy Factory stands as a testament to the transformative power of design in shaping the retail experience.
